Extracurricular - Elementary School

Extracurricular

At Bethany School, we believe that the best way for students to BELIEVE, ACHIEVE, and SUCCEED is through a well-rounded academic program along with a rich extracurricular program. Bethany School students enjoy a variety of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities including the following:

Field Trips: Each class will go on 3-4 field trips per year. Each field trip is directly connected to academic content being studied in the classroom.

Physical Education: Bethany School employs a full-time PE teacher for grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. In addition to instruction in the rules and practice of various sports, students will participate in calisthenics, motor skills, Presidential Fitness Training, and much more.  Elementary school classes meet for PE twice per week, while middle school students dress for PE four days per week.

Music: Because we believe that it is an important part of the learning process, music is incorporated in many different areas of our programs. Our preschool students enjoy music as part of their daily curriculum. Primary students in grades K-2 receive formal instruction in vocal music while 3rd -5th grade students learn instrumental music, including recorders and reading music. We also offer weekly piano lessons for an additional fee. All of our students take part in our annual holiday performances at Thanksgiving, Christmas and/or Easter.

Art: Art allows your student to express their learning through tactile and visual experiences. Each classroom uses arts and crafts as part of the learning process. Kindergarten through 5th grade students learn from the Meet the Masters program for formal art instruction five times per year. This program teaches students about classic and modern artists as well as their artwork. Students then return to the class to create their own masterpieces in a similar medium.

Clubs: Bethany hosts a number of exciting after school clubs for students of different ages. Clubs vary by age and by year.

  • Webby Dance (K – 2nd Grade)
  • Bible Club (2nd – 5th Grade)
  • Science Club (K-5th Grade)
  • Chess Club (K-5th Grade)
  • Robotics Club (3rd – 5th Grade)

Sports: Bethany Athletes strive for excellence in the classroom and on the field, where they compete against other Christian Schools in our league. Sports include:

  • Boys Football
  • Girls Volleyball
  • Boys Basketball
  • Girls Basketball

Travel: In addition to classroom field trips, our upper grades culminate annual units of studies with a class trip. These trips give student the opportunity to see and experience what they have learned outside the bounds of a textbook and classroom setting.

  • 4th Grade – Sacramento** (3 days) California History Studies
  • 5th Grade – Grand Canyon **(4 days) Geography Studies

Technology: Technology is an integrated learning tool that allows students to learn in new and exciting ways. Besides a full computer lab and full-time technology coordinator, Bethany School also hosts a mobile iPad lab for use in classrooms. Students have regular access to lab time through classroom instruction as well as after school time. Teachers also can check out the iPad cart as they integrate technology to enrich lesson plans, including research, videos, presentations, animation, and much more.

Summer School: Bethany offers summer enrichment programs for students finishing grades Kindergarten – 5th. These programs allow students to continue to learn and grow, physically, socially, academically, and spiritually. Programs include themed classroom lessons, weekly chapels, arts and crafts, games, physical education, music, cooking, field trips, and so much more. This year's summer theme is entitled "Celebrating Heroes".  The program starts on Monday, June 27 and ends on Friday, August 12.  Contact us at  for more information.
